Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls Conference
Soroptimist International of Surrey/Delta and Girls Empowered have partnered to organize and present our fifth annual “Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls Conference” hosted by Ecole Panorama Ridge Secondary School on Saturday, November 16, 2019 from 10:00 am—5:30pm.
This is a FREE event for high school girls in Surrey and Delta (grades 8 – 12).
Students can register for the event HERE.
Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls will help girls in our Surrey/Delta communities grow up to be strong, successful, financially independent women. Dream It, Be It targets girls in secondary school (grades 8—12), and provides girls with access to professional role models, career education and the resources to live their dreams.
We work in partnership with girls in a conference setting to provide them with the information and resources they want and need to be successful. Forums and resource handouts will cover topics including post-secondary education, skills and interest in future careers, networking/career/volunteer opportunities, setting/achieving goals, overcoming obstacles to success, etc.
Guest speakers will be invited to share their stories of motivation, challenges and successes.
Our Career Fair features women from a variety of careers/occupations/trades/sports/resources speaking about their career choices, how they got there, what obstacles they overcame, an overview of their education and career journey, and sharing resources that may benefit the girls attending. Additional follow-up opportunities may include a mentor program where girls will be matched with professional women to gain more insight into a specific career through the following ways: College visits, financing education, workplace visits, shadow days, internships, informational interviews, volunteering. According to last year’s evaluations, this is their favorite part of the conference!! If you are interested in participating in the Career Fair, please contact Linda at firstname.lastname@example.org
